BRIAN DAISLEY GOUROCK SEX OFFENDER CONVICTED OF RAPE AND ABUSE OF YOUNG VICTIMS

In a case that has shocked the community of Gourock, a man named Brian Daisley, aged 39, has been found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse and rape of two young children. The offences spanned several years and took place at various locations within the towns of Wemyss Bay, Greenock, and Gourock, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.

According to court proceedings, Daisley, who resided on Royal Street in Gourock, initially denied the allegations, claiming that his young victims were lying about the abuse. However, the jury at the High Court in Glasgow was unconvinced by his defense, and the evidence presented was deemed sufficient to establish his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Following the investigation into these serious crimes, Daisley was dismissed from his position as a carer, a role that would have involved close contact with vulnerable individuals. The court heard that the abuse of the girl began when she was between nine and twelve years old, with incidents occurring at addresses in Wemyss Bay and Greenock. As she grew older, Daisley continued his assault, raping her when she was aged 13 and 14, with the abuse taking place at locations in Greenock and Gourock.

The case also revealed that Daisley sexually exploited a five-year-old boy on multiple occasions at an address in Gourock. The court was shown evidence that Daisley even bit the young boy on his groin, leaving visible teeth marks, an act that underscored the brutality of his conduct.

Prosecutor Bill McVicar described Daisley's actions as part of a calculated pattern of grooming and manipulation. The court heard that the girl, who was subjected to repeated rape, struggled to come to terms with her trauma and attempted to suppress her memories. It was only when she believed she might be pregnant that she confided in her mother about the abuse, revealing the extent of Daisley's predatory behavior.

During her testimony, the girl recounted her feelings of helplessness, stating, “The first few times it happened I tried to push him, but I couldn't. I was just trying to put it to the back of my mind. I think it was something I didn’t want to think about. If I ever do think about it, it makes me very upset.”

Judge Michael O’Grady QC sentenced Daisley to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and remanded him in custody. Addressing Daisley directly, the judge described his conduct as “an appalling course of conduct” and emphasized that custody was inevitable, with a significant period of imprisonment to follow. Daisley showed no visible emotion as he was led away from the courtroom. His sentencing is scheduled for March 5, pending the completion of background reports that will inform the final judgment.
