In a case that has shocked the community of Plymouth, a teenage male was sentenced to five years in a Young Offender Institution after being convicted of raping a young girl.The incident, which took place in August 2011, involved a series of disturbing events that left the victim traumatized and the community seeking justice.
At the time of the assault, Brenan Grenney was only 17 years old, though he was 19 at the time of sentencing.
The court heard that Grenney had engaged in an evening involving alcohol and cannabis, which appeared to impair his memory of the events.
Despite this, Judge Paul Darlow expressed skepticism about Grenney’s claims of amnesia, stating that witnesses who saw him that night did not believe he was particularly intoxicated.
