AIRDRIE MAN BRANDYN HAMPSON ADMITTED SEX WITH 14-YEAR-OLD
A man who engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl used a fake driving license to falsely claim he was younger than his actual age.Brandyn Hampson told the girl he was 17, although he was actually two years older.
He then threatened to release nude photos and videos of her if she ceased communication with him.
He issued similar threats to another 14-year-old girl and pressured her to lie in court during his prosecution.
Now 22 years old and residing on Beechbank Avenue in Airdrie, Hampson was placed on the sex offenders' register following his appearance at the sheriff court in the town this week.
He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including unlawful sexual activity, indecent communication with minors, and threatening to share private images.
Hampson also admitted to attempting to obstruct justice by instructing one girl to lie and threatening harm if she attended court.
Prosecutor Annette Ward stated that he first contacted the initial girl via social media in August 2022.
She later told her family that they had engaged in sexual activity at least five times in a wooded area near a primary school in Airdrie.
The girl’s family suspected Hampson’s true age, but she claimed he showed her a driving license indicating he was 17.
Hampson convinced her to send nude photos of herself, and he reciprocated with pictures of himself.
When she stopped responding, he texted one of her friends, warning: "If she doesn't message me by Monday I'll send her pics everywhere.
I promise." He also messaged the girl directly, saying: "Let's talk.
Don't make me do things I would regret." Police intervened, and during a search of Hampson’s home, officers discovered a fake driving license under the name 'Brandon Dior,' claiming he was 17.
In February 2024, Hampson began messaging another 14-year-old girl, starting with a greeting for Valentine’s Day.
By that time, he was 20 but still claimed to be 17.
The two exchanged intimate photos and videos before Hampson’s arrest in October 2024.
He first appeared in court in January of the previous year and was released on bail.
During this period, he pressured the girl to lie to authorities, threatening to "leak" the images she had sent if the case proceeded.
He also expressed a desire to have sex with her.
Hampson appeared in court without any prior convictions.
His defense lawyer, Amy Hunter, presented character references, including one from his employer.
She stated: "These references starkly contrast with what has been described today.
"He was an immature young man who experienced difficult childhood circumstances but is now described as respectful, courteous, and cooperative.
"He shows honesty and maturity, is diligent, and willing to help others.
"His behavior was unacceptable, and he understands the potential impact on the victims." Sheriff Tony McGlennan postponed sentencing until September to allow for background reports and a risk assessment.
He agreed to keep Hampson on bail but warned him: "A custodial sentence will be strongly considered.
"Offenses of this nature against young women must be met with firm deterrence."
