BRANDON SEYMOUR AND HIS SHOCKING CRIMES IN GWENT
A convicted paedophile described as “sick and twisted” has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after grooming and abusing three young children in the Gwent area. Brandon Seymour, aged 27 and originally from Ebbw Vale, was found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences committed between 2019 and 2021.Seymour’s criminal acts included the sexual abuse of two boys and one girl, with the details revealed during his hearing at Cardiff Crown Court. The court was informed that the victims’ mothers had expressed their devastation upon learning of the abuse, highlighting the profound impact Seymour’s actions had on their lives.
Currently residing at Dyffryn Court in Abercarn, Caerphilly, Seymour pleaded guilty to a series of charges. These included five counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, two counts of inciting or causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and possession of indecent images of children. Authorities uncovered the illicit images on Seymour’s mobile phone following his arrest, further cementing the severity of his offences.
During the proceedings, prosecutor Matthew Cobbe read out heartfelt victim personal statements submitted by the victims’ mothers. One mother conveyed her anguish, stating, “Our lives have been devastated. I feel sick to my stomach. I could feel the anger boiling inside me. This was an exceptionally painful time in all our lives.” Another victim’s mother described the emotional toll, stating, “He’s a sick and twisted individual. He has ripped my soul apart. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone.”
While it was noted that Seymour previously maintained a good character with no prior convictions, his actions had clearly caused irrevocable damage. Defence lawyer Jeffrey Jones acknowledged his client’s guilt but emphasized that Seymour recognizes the severity of his wrongdoing and expressed remorse.
Despite this, the presiding judge, Recorder Duncan Bould, was unequivocal in his condemnation. Addressing Seymour directly, he stated, “You have an unhealthy interest in prepubescent children. You groomed your victims.” The judge described Seymour as a “dangerous offender” with a high risk to children.
As a result, Seymour was sentenced to a total of 15 years behind bars, comprising an immediate custodial sentence of 10 years and an extended license period of five years upon release. The court also ordered that Seymour serve at least two-thirds of his 10-year sentence before being eligible for parole. Additionally, he must register as a sex offender for life and pay a victim surcharge of £228 upon his release from detention.
