BRADLEY JOYNSON AND HIS SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION IN ROTHERHAM
A 21-year-old man named Bradley Joynson from Rotherham has been found guilty of a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual exploitation of teenage girls, with the offenses taking place in and around the town of Rotherham. The disturbing case came to light after several victims, all between the ages of 13 and 15, were subjected to a pattern of manipulative and criminal behavior by Joynson.
He targeted four young girls, each of whom was vulnerable due to their personal circumstances.
Using deceit and coercion, Joynson gained their trust by pretending he was in a romantic relationship with them.
He would collect the girls in his car, often using food and drinks to distract and entice them, thereby establishing a false sense of intimacy and security.
Once trust was established, Joynson would force the girls into sexual acts.
He exploited their naïveté by convincing them that he was dangerous and violent if they did not comply.
The abuse was not limited to encounters at his home; at least one of his victims was assaulted in his car, highlighting the depth of his predatory behavior.
The criminal investigation was initiated when one of the victims contracted a sexually transmitted disease, raising suspicions among healthcare professionals and prompting further inquiries.
Additionally, another girl went missing from her home, which heightened concern and prompted authorities to act swiftly.
Police in Rotherham launched a thorough investigation, leading to the arrest of Joynson in April 2019.
During the subsequent legal proceedings, Joynson initially denied any contact with the victims, claiming innocence.
However, law enforcement was able to retrieve and analyze multiple electronic devices seized from him, uncovering incriminating conversations and evidence that definitively linked him to the offenses.
These findings proved crucial in building the case against him.
At Sheffield Crown Court, Joynson faced multiple charges, including 11 counts of serious sexual offenses such as rape and sexual activity with a child.
The court heard that he was a 'dangerous offender' and passed a sentence of four and a half years imprisonment for four counts of sexual activity with a child.
The other charges against him will remain on file, meaning they may be taken into account should he reoffend in the future.
In addition to his prison sentence, Joynson was subjected to an eight-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his contact with minors and imposes other protective measures designed to prevent further offenses.
A restraining order was also issued in favor of all four girls, preventing him from approaching or contacting any of his victims.
DC Lisa Yates from the Rotherham Protecting Vulnerable People Unit issued a statement reflecting on the case: "Joynson took advantage of four young girls, all of whom were particularly vulnerable due to their own personal circumstances.
He preyed upon their trust for his own sexual gratification, using coercion and manipulation.
Child sexual exploitation cases are often very complex because victims often do not realize they are victims until it is too late." She further expressed gratitude toward the victims who, despite the trauma inflicted, bravely provided evidence in court.
"All four girls were prepared to stand up and give compelling testimony.
Their patience and courage during the legal process have been admirable.
Without their cooperation, it would have been much harder to secure justice." While no punishment can undo the suffering caused, the court’s decision aims to provide some measure of justice and foster the victims’ recovery, allowing them the opportunity to move forward from this traumatic experience.
