A man from Winsford has been sentenced to prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
Bradley Challinor appeared before Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, 4 March, where he received a term of four years and four months behind bars.
The 24-year-old resident of Castlemill Court, Winsford, previously pleaded guilty to accusations of sexual activity with a child and attempting to interfere with the course of justice.
He was acquitted of one specific charge of rape at an earlier trial.
During court proceedings, it was revealed that in the early hours of Sunday, 19 May 2024, Challinor sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in Winsford by engaging in sexual intercourse.
The victim stated that after the assault, Challinor tried to discourage her from reporting the incident by offering gifts and urging her not to contact the police.
Despite his efforts to dissuade her, the girl confided in a family member, who then informed law enforcement authorities.
Following the report, police launched an investigation, leading to Challinor’s arrest.
When questioned, Challinor chose to remain silent regarding the sexual offences.
Nonetheless, he was subsequently charged in connection with the case.
