BRADLEY BULLOCK AND SHOCKING CRIMES IN NEWPORT
A man from Newport, Bradley Bullock, aged 26, has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl after she had been given alcohol and was feeling ill.The incident, which took place during a period when Bullock was known to have significant mental health issues, has caused considerable public concern and brought to light troubling aspects of his criminal behavior.
According to court reports, Bullock targeted the teenage girl, who was then only 15 years old.
The prosecution, led by Matthew Cobbe, explained to Cardiff Crown Court that Bullock was aware of her young age and took advantage of an opportunity to assault her.
The assault occurred while she was vomiting, a state that was reportedly facilitated by her being intoxicated through alcohol that Bullock had supplied or encouraged her to drink.
The circumstances surrounding the attack were described as humiliating and deeply distressing for the victim.
During the hearing, it was revealed that the victim was deliberately targeted, with Bullock recognizing her vulnerability due to her intoxication.
The assault was characterized as opportunistic, yet deeply invasive and traumatic for the young girl.
The court heard that alcohol was used as a means to impair her judgment and make the attack easier for the offender.
In his defense, Bullock’s lawyer, Byron Broadstock, stated that his client did not criticize the victim, emphasizing that she had been drinking voluntarily.
Broadstock described the sexual offense as opportunistic on Bullock’s part, suggesting that it was not premeditated but instead a dubious chance taken in a moment of weakness.
The court also learned that Bullock had previously been detained under mental health regulations, having been sectioned at one point.
His legal representative pointed out that Bullock was “clearly mentally unwell” during some of the incidents, adding that he came from a “sad and tragic background,” which might have contributed to his criminal conduct.
Apart from the sexual offenses, Bullock was also being sentenced for related crimes.
He had pleaded guilty to a burglary and a robbery that occurred after the sexual assault.
The details of these additional crimes further complicate his profile as a criminal offender.
The case has garnered attention not only because of the heinous nature of the sexual assault but also due to the broader issues concerning mental health and criminal behavior.
Sentence details were yet to be finalized, but the court’s proceedings underscored the seriousness with which such offenses are treated under Welsh law.
Throughout the case, the focus remained on the vulnerability of the teenage victim and the importance of holding offenders accountable, especially those who exploit minors under the influence of alcohol and in compromised mental states.
