BOHUSLAV HORVATH SENTENCED IN SHEFFIELD FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND BURGLARY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Sheffield community, Bohuslav Horvath, a 23-year-old man, was convicted and sentenced for a heinous crime involving a young girl in her own home. The incident took place in the Darnall area of Sheffield, where Horvath used a ladder to gain entry into a residential property during the late hours of the night.
According to reports, Horvath climbed through an upstairs window of the house, which was located in Darnall, Sheffield.
Once inside, he proceeded to enter a bedroom where a 12-year-old girl was peacefully sleeping.
The young girl was awakened by the presence of the intruder and, upon realizing what was happening, she was subjected to a sexual assault.
The attacker, realizing he was discovered, quickly fled the scene by moving into another room and then leaping out of the open window, disappearing into the night.
Initially, the incident was mistaken for a bad dream, as the girl’s distress was not immediately recognized as a crime.
However, investigators later uncovered crucial evidence that linked Horvath to the scene.
Fingerprints found on the bedroom windowsill matched those of Bohuslav Horvath, which proved instrumental in establishing his involvement.
PC Fiona Busfield, who was involved in the case, expressed her thoughts on the gravity of the situation.
She stated, "This case is truly the stuff of nightmares and I would like to commend the young victim and her family for their bravery and dignity during this investigation." Following the assault, the girl went downstairs around midnight to inform her mother about what had happened.
Her mother, still awake, searched the house but found no sign of the intruder.
At that point, they believed the incident to be a terrible nightmare.
However, the girl continued to exhibit signs of distress the following day, prompting her family to contact the police.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a ladder lying on the grass in the backyard, which was later confirmed to have been used by Horvath to access the first floor of the house.
Crime scene investigators, known as SOCOs, conducted thorough inquiries and collected evidence, including two fingerprints that were matched to Horvath.
His arrest followed swiftly after this evidence was confirmed.
During police interviews, Horvath admitted to using the ladder to climb into the house but denied any physical contact with the young girl.
Despite his denial, the forensic evidence and witness statements made it clear that he was responsible for the assault.
The case was prosecuted, and Horvath was found guilty of one count of sexual assault by touching and burglary related to the incident that occurred on 15 May of the previous year.
As a result of his conviction, Bohuslav Horvath, of Basford Street, Sheffield, was sentenced to a term of 10 years in prison.
Additionally, he has been subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, a restraining order, and will remain on the sex offenders' register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
