WINSFORD MAN ADMITS ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND IN MONEY ROW
A WINSFORD man assaulted his girlfriend in a row over money, a court heard.Billyjoe Howe, 22, of Abbotts Way, admitted assaulting Tracy Kelsall by beating when he appeared at Northwich Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Patrick Hutchinson, prosecuting, said the couple had split up and Howe had gone to Tracy's house on April 28 after a row about £500 she said he owed her, but he was not willing to pay.
Mr Hutchinson said: "He came to the door shouting and calling her names and she was telling him to go away.
He became verbally aggressive and forced his way into the house.
He pushed her several times, still shouting, and she told her friend to call the police." He said Tracy received a kick to the back of her leg, she was grabbed by the left arm and the chains around her neck, slapped around the back of her head and spat at.
Derek McDonald, defending, said in interview Howe accepted there was a verbal altercation, he was aggressive and pushed her and may have spat by accident when shouting.
He denied kicking her and grabbing her around the neck and said her injuries were as a result of pushing.
Mr McDonald said: "The victim made a retraction statement indicating that she didn't want to continue with the matter and wanted to get their relationship back on track.
She is here today to support him." The case was adjourned for full pre-sentence reports and Howe was granted unconditional bail until he appears again on June 13.
