PRESTON MAN BHAVESH SOLANKI JAILED FOR GROOMING 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN PRESTON
In December 2016, a man from Preston was sentenced to prison for his involvement in a disturbing grooming case targeting a young girl.Bhavesh Solanki, aged 29 and residing at Links Gate, Fulwood, Preston, appeared before Preston Crown Court to face charges related to his inappropriate conduct towards a 14-year-old girl.
Solanki pleaded guilty to charges that included attempting to intentionally cause or incite a girl under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity.
Additionally, he admitted to attempting to meet the girl with the intent of committing a sexual offence, actions that were part of a grooming process.
The court heard that these offences occurred over a span of four days, from October 3 to October 6 of the previous year.
During the court proceedings, Solanki was observed staring at the floor, showing signs of remorse or perhaps shame, while members of his family sat in the public gallery, witnessing the case unfold.
The prosecution, led by Paul Cummings, outlined that the investigation was initiated after Solanki had made contact with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl on Facebook.
In reality, this was an undercover operation, and the individual was not a minor.
The case took a more serious turn when Solanki drove to Preston Railway Station, apparently prepared for a sexual encounter, as he was found carrying a condom.
However, his plans were thwarted when police intercepted him before he could meet the supposed victim.
The police intervention prevented what could have been a further escalation of the grooming and potential sexual offence.
Following his guilty plea, Judge James Adkin sentenced Solanki to 15 months in prison.
Furthermore, he ordered him to sign the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities following his release from custody.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation in Preston and beyond.
