CHILD SEX OFFENDER BERNARD SNAPE RELEASED FROM PRISON AMID CONCERNS
A convicted child sex offender named Bernard Snape, aged 64, formerly of Parkwood Road, Blackburn, has been released from Preston Prison.
He admitted he is still a threat to society.
Snape was jailed in August 1997 for four offences of indecent assault on youngsters in Blackburn while living in a council flat.
He was previously released on license but rearrested for failing to comply with conditions.
Since then, he has been kept segregated at Preston Prison and expressed interest in rehabilitation or being treated on a sex offenders scheme, but he was released before starting the program due to waiting lists.
Snape is now free to move as he wishes, provided he updates the police with his address on the Sex Offenders Register.
Agencies involved in managing his case have refused to disclose specific plans for his post-release supervision.
Snape's case has raised concerns among magistrates, solicitors, and probation officers, especially after he himself stated he continues to pose a threat to young children.
