Barnsley man sentenced to 8 years for brutal domestic violence attack

BARNSLEY MAN SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ATTACK

Benjamin Eatwell, a 33-year-old man from Denby Road, Barnsley, was involved in a brutal assault on his girlfriend, resulting in serious injuries including fractures to three of her vertebrae and a perforation to her duodenum.

The attack occurred after a series of violent incidents driven by Eatwell’s jealousy and inability to let go of his partner's infidelity seven months into their two-year relationship.

On June 8, while they were drinking at a friend's house, Eatwell became angry, called her a "cheating s**g," prompting her to leave.

Despite her returning to the flat, he assaulted her, kicking her "everywhere" and causing severe injuries.

He tried to blame a woman named "Amy" for the attack when police arrived.

The victim spent 10.5 weeks in hospital, and she was unable to return home due to traumatic memories, forcing her to relocate.

Eatwell admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was sentenced to eight years in prison, during which he wept.

The court heard there were elements of revenge behind the assault, though it was not a targeted revenge attack.
