BEN STOREY SENTENCED TO EIGHT AND A HALF YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN BEDFORDSHIRE
A man identified as Ben Storey has been convicted and sentenced to eight and a half years in prison following his disturbing crimes involving a young girl in Bedfordshire.The incident took place in the town of Luton, where Storey committed multiple sex offenses against the child over a period during 2016.
Ben Storey, aged 26, who was previously residing on Marlborough Road in Banbury, was brought before Luton Crown Court to face justice for his actions.
In October, after a thorough investigation and trial, he was found guilty of four counts of sexual touching and two counts of assault by penetration.
The crime was uncovered when the young girl confided in her mother about the abuse, prompting her mother to immediately contact law enforcement authorities.
The police responded swiftly following the child's disclosure, leading to Storey's arrest and subsequent charges.
The case highlights how critical early reporting and trusted communication are in protecting vulnerable children from ongoing harm.
DC Stephen Francis, involved in the case, emphasized the importance of the victim's courage in revealing the abuse, stating, "Fortunately Storey’s victim disclosed her abuse to a trusted adult and as a result Storey has now been locked away and can no longer cause harm to others." He expressed hope that the sentence reinforces the message that child sexual abuse is taken very seriously by the justice system.
"It will not be tolerated and we will do anything in our power to bring abhorrent offenders such as Storey to justice, while providing our support to victims and their families," he added.
The authorities also reiterated their ongoing commitment to preventative measures, including collaborations with partners to educate both parents and children about the risks associated with child sexual abuse.
The aim is to foster a safer environment and reduce the likelihood of such heinous acts occurring in Bedfordshire and beyond.
