BEN ANDERSON SENTENCED IN AYR FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN ARDROSSAN
In April 2022, Ben Anderson, a resident of Ayr, was formally sentenced for serious sexual offenses committed in Ardrossan. The court found Anderson guilty of multiple charges stemming from incidents that took place on July 16, 2021, at an address on Clyde Terrace in Ardrossan.
Anderson, aged 23 at the time, was convicted after a trial held in February, where evidence was presented that detailed his disturbing conduct towards two underage girls.
The sentencing took place at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week, where the judge handed down a four-month prison term to Anderson.
The court heard that Anderson had sexually assaulted a young girl, who was only 12 years old at the time.
The assault involved him holding her hand and cuddling her at the residence.
Additionally, Anderson repeatedly made sexual remarks directed at her, with the court concluding that these actions were deliberate and aimed at either obtaining sexual gratification or humiliating, distressing, and frightening the young girl.
On the same day and at the same location, Anderson also assaulted a 14-year-old girl.
His actions included preventing her from leaving a room within the home and threatening her with violence.
The court found that Anderson further engaged in inappropriate touching, including touching her face, attempting to kiss her on the neck, wrapping his arms around her, and touching her buttocks.
Furthermore, Anderson was convicted of communicating indecently with the 14-year-old girl by repeatedly making sexual remarks towards her.
The court also found him guilty of acting aggressively, which involved shouting and swearing at the two girls and another girl aged 13.
A charge of breaching a bail order, which had been granted in March 2021 and required Anderson to stay within his home between 7 pm and 7 am daily, was considered but ultimately resulted in a not guilty verdict.
As part of his sentence, Anderson will serve four months in prison.
Additionally, he will be subject to sexual offender notification requirements for a period of seven years, ensuring ongoing monitoring and registration related to his conduct.
