PERTH PAEDOPHILE BARRY GRANT SHARES SICK CHILD ABUSE PHOTOS AND PLOTS MEETUP NEAR LUNCARTY
Barry Grant, a man from Perth, has been found guilty of sharing disturbing child abuse fantasies and explicit images with an undercover police officer. The investigation revealed that Grant was actively seeking to arrange a physical meeting with a man online, with the sinister intention of sexually abusing his own 10-year-old daughter.
This shocking case underscores the severity of his actions and the dangers posed by online predators.
Grant, aged 47, was involved in a social media group called “Sharing Family,” where he connected with a user named Matt.
Unbeknownst to him, Matt was an undercover officer posing as a fellow parent.
During their private exchanges, Grant sent graphic and depraved messages detailing his disturbing fantasies involving children.
He shared explicit photographs of schoolchildren, including images of three girls, the youngest being only five years old.
Grant openly boasted about having sexually abused these girls and even claimed to have allowed other men to do the same.
In a particularly alarming development, Grant expressed a desire to sexually abuse Matt’s 10-year-old daughter.
He proposed a meeting, suggesting that they could all have “fun on the big bed together,” explicitly including the children in his depraved plans.
His messages indicated a disturbing willingness to carry out these acts, revealing a dangerous level of intent and depravity.
Law enforcement authorities acted swiftly after gathering evidence.
On the morning of November 30, 2022, police raided Grant’s rural residence near Luncarty, close to Perth.
They traced him through his IP address, leading to his arrest.
When officers arrived, Grant’s wife answered the door and claimed her husband was at work.
However, Grant was located nearby, and he cooperated by handing over a Samsung mobile phone and providing his PIN.
The phone contained a password-protected folder with the Kik messaging app, linked to the account “Exposed Scottish Wife (Male),” which Grant used to communicate with Matt.
Further investigation uncovered the identity of the mother of the three girls whose images Grant shared.
She was a woman known to Grant’s wife and had previously posted the images on Facebook.
The mother expressed her fear and alarm upon learning of Grant’s actions, especially after seeing the images and realizing that her children’s identities and school details had been exposed.
During the court proceedings, Grant admitted to engaging in threatening and abusive behavior through social media conversations between November 21 and 23, 2022.
The court heard that he had expressed a disturbing interest in sexually abusing children and had shared explicit images, which caused significant distress to the children’s mother.
The images revealed the children’s school and personal details, heightening her fears for their safety.
Defending solicitor David Holmes argued that Grant posed a low risk of reoffending in general and expressed willingness for him to participate in the Tay Project, a scheme designed for sex offenders.
However, Sheriff Alison McKay emphasized the seriousness of the case, describing the messages as “horrific” and expressing concern over Grant’s use of images of children unrelated to him.
She highlighted the disturbing nature of his fantasies and the potential danger he represented.
In sentencing, Sheriff McKay ordered Grant to complete 300 hours of unpaid work and imposed strict conduct requirements, including a prohibition from associating with other sex offenders.
Grant was also mandated to participate in the Moving Forward, Making Changes rehabilitation scheme under a supervision order.
Additionally, he will remain on the sex offenders register for five years.
The sheriff made it clear that the sentence was a serious response to his actions, stating, “You need to be clear that I am imposing this sentence as a direct alternative to custody.”
