HARWICH MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTING TO MEET CHILD IN CLACTON
A fun fair worker named Barry Creswell was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after attempting to meet a child in Clacton.
The court heard he had befriended a decoy account on Facebook in April 2021, and their conversations turned sexual in May.
Creswell, 40 years old and from Rose Bank, Dovercourt, was messaging a decoy who posed as a 13-year-old girl.
He called her "babes" and "cheeky babes" and made sexual innuendos, even sending a video of himself performing a sex act.
Creswell had arranged to meet her on May 28, offering to buy her McDonald's and suggesting they could lie in his hotel room.
He joked about people thinking the girl was his daughter but expressed fear it was a set-up.
He was caught near Clacton train station shortly before 11 am on May 28 before meeting the decoy.
Creswell admitted to attempting to meet a child following grooming, engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to look at an image of sexual activity, and possession of cannabis.
He was also subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order forbidding him from meeting any lone female under 18.
The sentencing was conducted at Chelmsford Crown Court.
