WATFORD MAN BADER LOY SENTENCED TO OVER FIVE YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AND DISTRIBUTION OF INDECENT IMAGES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Watford, Bader Loy, a 67-year-old resident of Woodhurst Avenue, was sentenced to a total of five years and three months in prison for a series of heinous child sex offenses and the distribution of indecent images involving minors.

The case was brought before St Albans Crown Court, where Loy faced a total of 17 charges related to child sexual abuse, possession, and distribution of indecent images. The prosecution, led by Anne Evans, detailed the extent of Loy's criminal activities, which spanned over a two-year period during which he engaged in sexual abuse of a young boy and also targeted another teenage boy.

The police investigation was initiated on June 23 of the previous year when officers arrived at Loy’s residence. The authorities had been alerted to the presence of indecent images of children stored on his devices, which Loy was believed to have shared over the internet. During the search, law enforcement officials discovered a collection exceeding 2,000 images, some of which were classified at the most severe level of indecency. Among these were photographs depicting Loy himself abusing a young boy, providing concrete evidence of his criminal conduct.

Detectives managed to identify the teenage victim, who remains in denial about the abuse despite the clear photographic proof. The court was also informed that Loy had distributed some of these images to an 80-year-old man residing in Canada. This individual, a former teacher who had emigrated from England, was subsequently convicted and jailed for his involvement.

The court proceedings revealed that Loy had met one of his victims through the online platform Gaydar. The young boy made initial contact with Loy, and their meeting took place in a car park in Watford. Loy then took the boy’s bicycle, placing it in the boot of his car, and drove him to his home. There, in a bedroom, the two undressed and engaged in sexual touching. Loy later sent an account of this incident to other internet users, further illustrating his predatory behavior.

During the court hearing, Loy pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including five counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of taking indecent photographs, two counts of distributing such images, five counts of making indecent images of a child, and two counts of possessing indecent images.

Judge Andrew Bright QC, presiding over the case, condemned Loy’s systematic abuse of the young boy, emphasizing that Loy had exploited the victim for his own gratification. The judge also highlighted Loy’s involvement with the second youth, which further demonstrated his predatory nature.

As part of his sentence, Loy was ordered to serve a term of five years and three months in prison. Additionally, his name will be permanently entered onto the sex offenders register, and he was subjected to a sexual offences prevention order, restricting his future conduct and contact with minors. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals like Loy and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting vulnerable children from exploitation and abuse.
