AXEL SAVAGE SHOCKS WARRANTON WITH VILE VOYEURISM AND CHILD SEX IMAGE CHARGES

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through Warrington, police have apprehended Axel Savage, a 30-year-old man accused of engaging in heinous voyeuristic activities and possessing indecent images of children.

The investigation was triggered after authorities received intelligence suggesting Savage was involved in sharing and creating extremely disturbing material involving minors.

According to court reports, Savage was found to have uploaded Category A images—those involving the most severe forms of child abuse, including child rape—on a Snapchat account linked to his email address.

The police traced the account to an IP address associated with Savage’s residence, prompting officers to execute a warrant at his home.

During the search, a variety of electronic devices, including his mobile phone, were seized for forensic analysis.

When questioned, Savage chose to remain silent, answering 'no comment' to all inquiries.

However, he did provide his PIN and passwords, which allowed investigators to access the devices.

The forensic examination uncovered nine indecent images of children, with two classified as Category A and seven as Category B.

Further analysis revealed that Savage had distributed two of these images multiple times via WhatsApp to his partner, highlighting a disturbing pattern of sharing.

In addition to the child exploitation material, police discovered 282 photographs taken in a public toilet in Warrington.

The images, captured between January 30 and February 3 of the previous year, depicted adult men urinating in the facility, with some taken from above and under toilet doors.

Other images showed men performing sex acts on themselves within the toilet block.

These voyeuristic photographs were taken without the subjects’ knowledge, raising serious concerns about privacy and safety in public spaces.

During subsequent police interviews, Savage maintained his silence, again answering 'no comment' to questions related to the voyeurism and indecent images.

His legal representative, Jim Smith, presented mitigating circumstances, emphasizing Savage’s lack of prior convictions and the support he received from family and his partner, who was present in court.

Smith also highlighted a letter written by Savage himself, expressing remorse and acknowledging the illegality of his actions.

Smith argued that Savage was deeply ashamed and understood the gravity of his offenses.

He described the distribution of images as an 'unusual' case, noting that the images were intended solely for his partner’s eyes and not for broader circulation.

Despite this, he acknowledged the harm caused by such material and the ongoing exploitation it perpetuates.

The judge, David Swinnerton, addressed the court with a stern warning about the seriousness of possessing and distributing child abuse images.

He emphasized that each image represents a child being abused and that those who view or share such material contribute to a market that encourages ongoing exploitation and abuse.

The judge also condemned the voyeuristic images taken in the public toilet, stating that public facilities are meant for everyone’s safe use, and no one should fear being photographed without consent.

In sentencing Savage, Judge Swinnerton acknowledged the unusual circumstances of the case but decided to suspend the prison sentence, citing Savage’s otherwise clean record and character references.

Savage was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for two years.

He is also required to complete 30 days of rehabilitation, including participation in the Horizon sex offence treatment programme, and perform 150 hours of unpaid community work.

Additionally, he must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order and register as a sex offender for the next ten years.

The court also ordered the seizure and destruction of all electronic devices seized during the police search, aiming to prevent further misuse.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect public privacy, while also highlighting the importance of strict sentencing for those involved in the distribution and possession of such damaging material.
