The mother of a teenage girl in Norfolk took immediate action by contacting the police after her daughter received a disturbing parcel containing crotchless underwear in the mail.The incident prompted a serious investigation into the online activities of the accused, Ashton Drake.
The mother, whose identity remains confidential to protect her daughter’s privacy, questioned her 14-year-old daughter upon discovering the parcel.
It was during this conversation that the girl disclosed her ongoing online communications with Ashton Drake, a man significantly older than her.
The court was informed that Drake was nine years her senior, raising serious concerns about the nature of their interactions.
According to court records, Ms.
Ascherson, the prosecutor, explained that police were called in after it was revealed that Drake had not only engaged in inappropriate online messaging but also sought explicit images from the young girl.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was subjected to a series of disturbing exchanges over a period of days, from December 24, 2019, to January 4, 2020.
Further investigations uncovered that Drake had filmed himself performing sexual acts and had explicitly asked the girl to do the same.
These messages and videos were exchanged over a span of several days, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior.
The defendant, Ashton Drake, who is now 27 years old and resides on Alexandra Road in Sheringham, appeared before Norwich Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, October 13.
He had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of causing a child to watch a sexual act, a serious offense that underscores the gravity of his actions.
