ASHLEY SCOTT HUDSON SENTENCED IN HAMPSHIRE FOR SERIAL RAPE IN EASTLEIGH AND SOUTHAMPTON

In a significant development in the fight against sexual violence in Hampshire, Ashley Scott Hudson, a 30-year-old man from Chapel Drove, Eastleigh, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence following his conviction for multiple counts of rape and attempted rape. The sentencing took place on Friday, April 25, at Southampton Crown Court, marking a decisive victory for justice in a case that drew considerable public attention.

Hudson was found guilty of six separate charges of rape and one count of attempted rape after a jury deliberated on the evidence presented during a trial that began on January 14. The case centered around allegations made by a woman in her twenties, who reported to police in November 2021 that Hudson had assaulted her on six occasions spanning from August 2019 to October 2021. She also accused him of attempting to rape her on one additional occasion.

The court heard that Hudson’s actions were characterized by a blatant disregard for the woman’s objections and her clear lack of consent. Despite his vehement denial of the charges, the jury reached a verdict of guilty just one week into the trial, on January 21. The conviction underscores the strength of the evidence and the courage of the victim in coming forward.

Following his conviction, Hudson was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Additionally, he will serve a further five years under extended supervision, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his behavior post-release. The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order that will remain in effect indefinitely, aimed at protecting the victim and preventing any future offenses.

Hampshire police, through their Operation Amberstone unit—specializing in investigating serious sexual offenses—expressed their satisfaction with the outcome. Police Staff Investigator Keely Osborne stated, “Myself and many other detectives, officers and police staff have put in many hours of work to ensure that Hudson was brought to justice for what he has done. We are pleased that, based on the evidence presented to them and the testimony of the victim, the jury were able to see through Hudson’s lies and that he will now spend time in prison for his crimes.”

She also extended her gratitude to the victim, emphasizing the importance of her bravery in reporting the assaults. “Without her support, we may not have achieved this sentence today,” Osborne added, highlighting the critical role victims play in the criminal justice process. This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement in Hampshire to combat sexual violence and bring perpetrators to justice, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
