ASHLEY GOULDING FROM NOTTINGHAM SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES
In March 2020, a disturbing incident involving a teenager from Nottingham came to light, revealing a series of serious criminal acts committed by Ashley Goulding, who at the time was only 21 years old.The case unfolded after Goulding attempted to sexually assault a young schoolboy during a game known as 'Nerf wars,' a popular activity among children and teenagers.
According to court reports, Goulding instructed the young victim to lie down on a bed, suggesting that they could rest or sleep through part of the game, which was a clear indication of his predatory intentions.
Further details emerged when Goulding was found to have shown another boy images depicting the rape of babies.
Both victims involved in these incidents are unable to be identified publicly, respecting their privacy and the sensitive nature of the case.
The Nottingham Crown Court heard that Goulding had inserted a memory stick into a laptop to display indecent images of children, a revelation that added a deeply disturbing layer to his criminal profile.
Authorities responded swiftly, arresting Goulding and seizing his electronic devices.
An examination of his technology uncovered a horrifying collection of images: 141 Category A images, which include the most severe and explicit content, both moving and still; 67 Category B images; and 449 Category C images, which are considered less serious but still illegal.
Additionally, investigators found 181 extreme images of bestiality and 94 prohibited images involving children, highlighting the extent of his possession of illegal material.
Following his arrest, Goulding admitted to the attempted rape and acknowledged downloading the indecent images.
He confessed to deleting the images but also to re-downloading them later, indicating a continued interest in such material.
It was also revealed that Goulding had previous convictions related to possessing amphetamine, knives, and prohibited images when he was just 15 or 16 years old, suggesting a pattern of concerning behavior from a young age.
During sentencing, Judge John Burgess addressed Goulding directly, noting that he is described as articulate and intelligent, capable of leading a decent and constructive life.
The judge emphasized that Goulding was only 14 years old at the time of the attempted rape, acknowledging that his youth should be taken into account when determining the appropriate punishment.
Despite the severity of the crimes, the judge recognized the young age of the offender and the circumstances surrounding the case.
Goulding was formally charged with attempted rape, possession of indecent images of children, showing indecent images to a vulnerable boy, possession of extreme images, and prohibited images.
His sentence totaled 44 months in prison, with the understanding that he will serve half of that term.
Additionally, he will be required to sign the sex offenders' register and will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
