ASHLEY DAVIES FROM CARDIFF CAUGHT TRYING TO GROOM 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN PLYMOUTH
In March 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Ashley Davies, a 27-year-old man from Cardiff, who attempted to groom a 14-year-old girl for sexual activity through online communications.Unbeknownst to Davies, the individual he was engaging with was actually a police officer operating undercover to prevent such crimes.
According to court proceedings, Davies had made arrangements to meet the young girl in person, with the apparent intent of engaging in sexual acts.
His plans were thwarted when detectives intervened, leading to his arrest.
The police investigation revealed that Davies had been actively involved in online grooming activities, and further searches of his residence in Wales uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images.
At his home in Cardiff, authorities discovered more than 200 indecent images, some of which depicted children being sexually abused by adults.
The images ranged from June 2011 to November 2016, and included a total of 258 illicit pictures, with 29 showing explicit abuse involving minors.
These findings underscored the severity of his offenses and the extent of his involvement in child exploitation.
During the court hearing at Plymouth Crown Court, Davies pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
He admitted to attempting to meet the girl for sexual purposes following grooming activities, which took place on November 1 of the previous year.
His intention was clearly to engage in sexual activity with the minor, a fact that the court took very seriously.
In addition to the grooming charge, Davies also confessed to two counts of making or downloading indecent images of children, spanning a period from June 2011 to November 2016.
His actions demonstrated a pattern of criminal behavior involving the exploitation and abuse of minors.
Judge Paul Darlow, presiding over the case, decided to adjourn sentencing to allow a probation officer to prepare a comprehensive report on Davies’s background and risk factors.
The judge issued a stern warning, indicating that Davies could face imprisonment when he returns to court for sentencing on April 7.
For the time being, Davies was released on bail, with the understanding that all sentencing options remained open, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential consequences he faces.
