ASHLEY CORBIN/KEVIN SMITH FROM FAREHAM ESCAPES JAIL AFTER BUYING SEXUAL ABUSE VIDEOS WITH AMAZON VOUCHERS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Fareham, Hampshire, a man identified as Ashley Corbin, who has recently changed his name by deed poll to Kevin Smith, has been involved in the possession and purchase of illegal sexual abuse material involving minors.Corbin, aged 35, was found to have used a combination of Amazon vouchers totaling £295 and an additional £40 paid via PayPal to acquire footage depicting girls who had been subjected to blackmail and coercion.
Corbin’s criminal activities came to light following a police raid on his residence in West Downs Close, Fareham, in June 2019.
During the operation, officers seized multiple electronic devices, including computers, which revealed a disturbing collection of illicit images and videos.
Investigators uncovered a total of 130 images and videos stored locally on Corbin’s devices, alongside an astonishing 4,534 images and videos stored on cloud accounts linked to him.
The severity of Corbin’s offenses was underscored by the nature of the material found.
Authorities identified 329 images classified as Category A, representing the most serious level of child exploitation content.
Additionally, there were 604 images in Category B and a staggering 4,990 in Category C.
Many of these images depicted children who had been forced to state their names and ages on camera, a detail confirmed by the National Crime Agency, highlighting the disturbing extent of the abuse.
Corbin’s legal proceedings culminated at Portsmouth Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 16 months in prison, a sentence that was suspended for two years.
This means he will not serve time unless he commits another offense within that period.
Furthermore, he was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact to prevent further harm to children.
Corbin admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children, a plea that contributed to the court’s decision.
Despite the gravity of his actions, Corbin’s sentence has sparked debate about the adequacy of punishment for such offenses, especially considering the potential harm inflicted on the victims and the community’s sense of justice.
