ASHLEIGH CHARLES WILKINS BRUTALIZES PREGNANT PARTNER IN SWANSEA

In a harrowing incident that unfolded in Swansea, Ashleigh Charles Wilkins subjected his pregnant partner to a violent and prolonged assault that lasted approximately 30 minutes. The attack was triggered by Wilkins's emotional distress over family health issues, which led him to lash out at the woman, who was in the early stages of pregnancy and fully aware of her condition.

According to reports, Wilkins's violence began with him punching his partner directly in the face, a move that left her injured and shocked. He then forcefully pushed her into a wardrobe, causing her to fall to the ground. The assault escalated further as Wilkins kicked her repeatedly in the stomach and back, demonstrating a disturbing level of aggression and disregard for her safety.

Adding to the brutality, Wilkins threw a large, two-foot-long speaker at his partner, striking her on the arm. This act of violence was followed by him pushing her to the ground once more, compounding the physical abuse she endured during this terrifying ordeal.

The incident took place on December 14, with Wilkins's anger and frustration seemingly fueling his violent outburst. The victim, despite her injuries and distress, managed to summon help by calling a taxi and fleeing the scene. She sought refuge at the home of a former partner, who subsequently contacted law enforcement authorities to report the assault.

When police arrived at the victim’s residence on December 19, they located Wilkins hiding inside a cupboard, attempting to evade arrest. He was taken into custody and later admitted to the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH). Wilkins has a prior criminal record that includes other domestic violence offenses, highlighting a pattern of abusive behavior.

During the court proceedings, Recorder Lucy Crowther sentenced Wilkins to 14 months in prison. The sentence was structured to allow him to serve half of that time in custody before being released on licence. The judge emphasized the severity of the attack, noting that Wilkins had targeted a particularly vulnerable individual. She remarked, 'You knew your partner was in the early stages of pregnancy but still carried out a sustained assault.'
