A doctor practicing in Reading, Arun Bagga, aged 55, has been punished for controlling and coercive behaviour, leading to his removal from the medical register.
He was sentenced at Reading Crown Court in January 2023 to serve 30 months in prison.
Additionally, Bagga received a suspended sentence in October 2024 for charges including assault.
As part of his sentence, he was ordered to undertake rehabilitation activities and complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
Following a hearing on Friday, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service decided that Bagga should be immediately struck off the medical register, citing the need to protect the public.
The tribunal panel stated that if Bagga were allowed to remain registered, public confidence in the medical profession would be negatively affected.
