ARPAN DUGGAL FROM TIMPERLEY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN GREATER MANCHESTER

In a serious case that has shocked the community of Timperley and the wider Greater Manchester area, Arpan Duggal, aged 26, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two teenage girls. The incident took place while Duggal was working as a taxi driver, a profession that often involves transporting young people and vulnerable individuals across the region.

According to court records, Duggal, who resides on Briarfield Road in Timperley, targeted two girls aged 13 and 14. The victims had obtained his contact details from a relative of one of the girls, who had mentioned Duggal’s nickname ‘Johnny’ and indicated that he could provide free lifts. This information was used by the girls to contact Duggal on April 24th of the previous year, arranging for him to pick them up from the Northern Moor area and take them to Fallowfield.

During the journey, Duggal’s behavior became increasingly inappropriate. He began touching one of the girls on her leg and inquired about her relationship status, specifically asking whether she had a boyfriend. The situation escalated when Duggal stopped the vehicle on Palatine Road and asked the girls to switch seats. Upon reaching Fallowfield, one of the girls exited the vehicle, but Duggal then locked the other girl inside and proceeded to sexually assault her.

Initially, neither girl reported the incident to the authorities. However, the situation changed when Duggal started contacting one of the victims through text messages and phone calls, prompting the girls to come forward and report the assault. The police investigation was led by Detective Constable Charlotte Owens of the Child Abuse Investigation Team, who emphasized the manipulative tactics Duggal employed. She stated, “Duggal has used the ploy of offering free lifts to get the girls in his car. When he did, he sexually assaulted them.”

DC Owens also expressed hope that the victims find some measure of comfort in the fact that Duggal has now been sentenced. She highlighted that Duggal’s former employers were equally appalled by his actions and cooperated fully with law enforcement during the investigation. She added, “His actions should in no way reflect them or any of their drivers who provide a valuable service for many in the area.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for trusted transportation services to maintain high standards of safety and integrity.
