ARMON DANIELS FROM CARDIFF CAUGHT WITH OVER 16,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cardiff, Dr.Armon Daniels, a medical professional with nearly three decades of experience as a general practitioner, was found to possess an alarming collection of indecent images of children on his personal laptop.
The incident came to light in January 2017, when police executed a search warrant at his residence in Cyncoed, Cardiff, following intelligence that suggested his IP address had been used to access illicit material.
At approximately 7 a.m., law enforcement officers arrived at Daniels' home, initiating a thorough investigation.
During questioning, Daniels admitted to an officer that the images were on his laptop, stating, “Yes, it’s me.
It’s on my laptop.
I’ve deleted it now.” Despite this claim, authorities seized his laptop along with two USB sticks, which were later examined and revealed a staggering total of 16,168 Class C still images and 847 Class C moving images depicting children in sexual poses or engaging in sexual activities.
Additionally, the devices contained 106 images classified as more serious Class B still images and 12 videos of the same category.
Prosecutors explained that Class C images typically show children in sexually suggestive poses, while Class B images depict children involved in sexual acts.
The investigation uncovered that some of these images had been viewed multiple times, with some deleted and others left unviewed.
During police interviews, Daniels chose to remain silent, replying “no comment” to all questions posed to him.
In court, Judge Thomas Crowther QC described the volume of illicit material as “astonishing” and expressed his concern over the implications of such a large collection.
Addressing Daniels directly, the judge remarked, “That occupation will be lost to you.
It is difficult to see how you could have the confidence of any parent to treat their child.” The judge also emphasized the shame and embarrassment Daniels had brought upon himself and his family, reminding him that each image represented a real child.
Ultimately, Daniels was sentenced to eight months in prison, but the sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed further offenses within that period.
He was also ordered to undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activities and complete 120 hours of unpaid community work.
Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed to restrict his future conduct.
Daniels was instructed to pay £500 towards prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.
The court also announced that his case file would be forwarded to the Fitness to Practice Committee of the General Medical Council for further review, considering his professional standing and the severity of his actions.
