SHEFFIELD MAN ARAS HUSSEIN GUILTY OF BEHEADING GIRLFRIEND
Aras Hussein, who worked as a pizza delivery driver in Sheffield, was convicted of the heinous murder of his teenage partner, Reema Ramzan.The court was informed that in June 2013, Hussein used a kitchen knife to decapitate the 18-year-old Reema at his residence, and then proceeded to stab himself in the chest.
Although he admitted to causing her death, Hussein contested the charge of murder, claiming diminished responsibility.
Prosecutors described how Hussein had used considerable force to sever her head while she was still alive.
Evidence from police indicated that she had sustained multiple defensive wounds on her hands and forearms.
Reema’s family expressed their grief, describing her as a gentle and beautiful young woman.
Hussein received a life sentence at Sheffield Crown Court, with a minimum term of 20 years before he can be considered for parole.
During the proceedings, authorities revealed that Hussein had previously threatened Reema, and police had been involved earlier due to concerns about their relationship.
The accused also assaulted hospital staff when he was taken for treatment following the attack, suggesting persistent mental health problems.
