ARAM AHMAD FROM IPSWICH JAILED FOR RAPE OF SCHOOLGIRL ON RENDLESHAM ROAD
In a disturbing case that unfolded in Ipswich, a man named Aram Ahmad has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in Rendlesham Road, where Ahmad lured the young girl into a house under the pretense of offering her a cup of tea. According to court proceedings, the girl was invited inside by Ahmad and his accomplice, who was present at the scene. Once inside, the girl was subjected to a terrifying ordeal that she initially did not report to authorities, fearing disbelief and shame. The court heard that after entering the house, the girl sat on a sofa, feeling increasingly nervous about her surroundings. When she attempted to leave, she was physically assaulted; she was slapped across the face, which caused her to feel dizzy and disoriented. The assault escalated as she found herself lying on the sofa, with one of the men holding her wrists tightly and covering her mouth with his hand to prevent her from screaming or calling for help. During this assault, 30-year-old Aram Ahmad forcibly removed her trousers and underwear, raping her in a brutal and calculated attack.
Prosecutor Andrew Shaw described the assault, noting that the girl made efforts to resist. She tried to kick out at Ahmad and even attempted to bite the hand of the man who was restraining her wrists, but her resistance was unsuccessful. After the assault, the perpetrators unlocked the door, allowing the girl to leave the house. She did not immediately report the incident to the police, fearing that no one would believe her. It was only three months later that she came forward after receiving an anonymous phone call informing her that there was video footage circulating online showing her having sex with a man.
The girl later encountered Ahmad again near Norwich Court in Ipswich, approximately two days after the incident, around 6 pm. She recognized him when he called her by name. Despite her attempts to tell him to go away, Ahmad grabbed her wrist. When she threatened to call the police, he allegedly touched her breasts and laughed, further intimidating her. This encounter added to the trauma she experienced following the initial assault.
Aram Ahmad, who resides at Norwich Court in Ipswich, denied the charges of raping the girl in January of the previous year and sexually assaulting her on April 29. However, after a three-day trial, the jury found him guilty of rape but acquitted him of the sexual assault charge. The court, presided over by Recorder Christopher Morgan, emphasized the vulnerability of the victim and condemned Ahmad for taking advantage of her trust and innocence. In addition to his prison sentence, Ahmad was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
