ANWAR HUSSAIN FROM NETHERTON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WOLVERHAMPTON

In a case that has shocked the local community of Netherton and the wider Wolverhampton area, Anwar Hussain, a 23-year-old man from Netherton, was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of raping a teenage girl. The incident, which took place in Dudley town centre, involved Hussain offering to give the young girl a lift home, an act that was later revealed to be a betrayal of trust.

According to court proceedings, Hussain encountered the girl and her friend in Dudley and subsequently took them back to his residence on Round Street. The court heard that Hussain was aware that both girls had been drinking heavily at the time. Judge Amjad Nawaz commented on the situation, stating that it should have been obvious to Hussain that the girls were intoxicated. The judge emphasized that Hussain exploited their vulnerability, saying, “They thought they were being shown some kindness when you told them they could go into the house to charge up a mobile telephone.”

Further details revealed that Hussain used deception to lure the second girl out of the house, after which he committed a sexual assault on the first girl. The judge described Hussain’s actions as a calculated abuse of trust, adding, “She was foolish and you took advantage of her foolishness. I have no doubt she will never overcome what happened to her that night. She will live with it for the rest of her life.”

Hussain denied the charges of rape, but after a nearly three-hour deliberation, the jury—comprising six men and six women—found him guilty based on the evidence presented during the trial. The court’s decision was clear, and Hussain was convicted of the serious offence.

During the trial, Hussain’s defense argued that he had come to the United Kingdom from North West Pakistan early last year, fleeing a war-torn region. His legal team claimed that he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which was linked to his proximity to a bomb explosion, and that he required medication and psychological support.

Despite these claims, Hussain maintained his innocence in court, asserting that the teenage girl had consented to the acts and that she had been enthusiastic about what transpired. However, the judge made it clear that Hussain’s behavior was a gross abuse of the system, which the UK government uses to support individuals from conflict zones around the world. As a result, Hussain was informed that he would be considered for deportation back to Pakistan once he completes his sentence, as part of the country’s efforts to protect its citizens and uphold justice.
