HYDE MAN ANWAR ALI SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hyde, Anwar Ali, a 33-year-old resident of Chapel Street, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 21 years after being found guilty of multiple serious charges involving the sexual abuse of a young boy. The court heard that Ali had engaged in a prolonged pattern of abuse spanning over four years, beginning when the victim was just five years old.Ali was convicted on five counts of raping a child under the age of 12, along with four counts of sexual assault by penetration of a child under 12. Additionally, he faced two counts related to accessing indecent images of children. The severity of his crimes was underscored by the fact that the abuse was carried out over an extended period, with Ali deliberately luring the young boy away from others to carry out his heinous acts.
The court was told that Ali would entice the child to play computer games, often removing him from the presence of other people, which allowed him to commit these acts in private. The abuse was repeated on numerous occasions, culminating in a rape that further traumatized the young victim.
The police investigation was triggered in June 2017 when concerns about Ali's conduct were reported to authorities. Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Child Protection Unit responded swiftly, seizing a computer registered to Ali during a search of his residence. The subsequent examination of the device uncovered evidence that Ali had been viewing indecent images of children, which contributed to his arrest and subsequent charges.
As part of his sentencing, Ali was also ordered to remain on the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community. The case has brought to light the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting in protecting vulnerable children from predators like Ali, whose actions have left a lasting impact on his young victim and the wider community of Hyde.
