ANTONIO MCCREADIE SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN ALEXANDRIA AND WEST DUNBARTONSHIRE

A man identified as Antonio McCreadie has been handed a severe prison sentence after being convicted of multiple heinous sexual offenses committed over a span of more than a decade. The 58-year-old, formerly residing on North Street in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, was found guilty of a series of disturbing crimes involving underage victims, which took place across various locations in the west of Scotland and Fife.

McCreadie’s criminal activities began when he targeted a young girl, initially between the ages of six and eleven. During this period, which extended from 2001 to 2007, he repeatedly molested her at a residence in West Dunbartonshire. The abuse was not limited to a single incident; it involved multiple occasions where he subjected the girl to indecent acts, causing significant trauma.

As the victim grew older, McCreadie’s predatory behavior persisted. Between July 2009 and June 2010, he continued his abuse at a house in Kirkcaldy, Fife, where he engaged in further indecent conduct. During these encounters, he also resorted to more sinister tactics, such as spiking her drinks with an unknown substance and coercing her into watching pornography. Evidence presented in court revealed that McCreadie not only performed sexual acts on the girl but also recorded some of these acts, further demonstrating the extent of his depravity. He also made attempts to rape her during this period, highlighting the severity of his crimes.

In addition to his crimes against the first victim, McCreadie was also responsible for repeated assaults and rapes of a second girl between 2011 and 2013. These offenses occurred at a flat in Balloch, West Dunbartonshire. During these incidents, he forcibly removed her lower clothing and engaged in sexual acts, including performing a sex act on himself in her presence. The court heard that these acts inflicted profound psychological harm on the second victim, with lasting effects.

During the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Thomas Welsh KC addressed McCreadie directly, emphasizing the gravity of his offenses. The judge noted that McCreadie had denied the charges initially but was ultimately convicted of four serious sexual offenses. The judge described the crimes as “very serious” and highlighted the extensive period over which they occurred, spanning 13 years.

In a social work report presented during sentencing, McCreadie claimed that his victims had fabricated their stories for financial gain and accused them of conspiring against him. The judge dismissed these claims, stating that the harm caused by McCreadie was “horrendous” and that the psychological impact on the victims persisted long after the crimes. The court acknowledged the profound and ongoing trauma inflicted by his actions.

Judge Welsh sentenced McCreadie to ten years in prison. Additionally, as a measure of public protection, he ordered that McCreadie be supervised for a further three years following his release. The court warned that any breach of the conditions during this period could result in his return to incarceration. The judge also emphasized that McCreadie’s lack of remorse and empathy influenced the severity of his sentence.

Furthermore, McCreadie was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely. The court also issued non-harassment orders, prohibiting him from contacting or attempting to contact the victims in any way. Defense lawyer Sean Templeton expressed that McCreadie wished to move forward and lead a quiet life, but the court’s measures aimed to ensure public safety and prevent any further harm.
