CARDIFF MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPES IN HIS OWN HOME
Anthony Williams, aged 32 and from Cardiff, received a 12-year prison sentence after confessing to attempts of sexually assaulting two women in their residences. The assault began when Williams entered a woman’s home through a ground-floor window while she was sleeping, after which he engaged in sexual assault and attempted to rape her.
Shortly afterward, he invaded a second home, where he lunged at a woman and forced her onto a sofa.
At Newport Crown Court, Williams admitted to two counts of attempted rape, two counts of sexual assault, burglary, and theft.
Court reports indicated that during the first assault, the woman screamed and was able to push Williams away, and he also stole £60 from her.
The second woman called her husband for help, causing Williams to flee the scene.
Statements from the victims highlighted significant emotional distress; one reported experiencing ongoing flashbacks of the incident, while the other expressed feeling safer outside her own home.
Williams suffers from mental health problems and has issues with substance misuse.
Judge Daniel Williams noted that he posed a high risk of serious harm to adult women and sentenced him to 12 years behind bars, with an additional six-year extended license period after his release.
