PERTH DAD WHO BROKE LOCKDOWN AND THREATENED EX-PARTNER EVADES PRISON WITH COMMUNITY ORDER
A father named Anthony Smith from St John’s Place, Perth, has been involved in multiple incidents related to domestic abuse and breaking Covid-19 restrictions. He confronted police in Perth city center at the start of lockdown and was widely reported for his aggressive behavior.
Smith was placed on a community payback order for 30 months after he was found guilty of intimidating his former partner, Lisa Anderson.
The court heard that Smith broke bail conditions and Covid-19 lockdown rules to go to his ex-partner’s residence, causing her to feel fear and alarm.
During the incident, footage showed him shouting "you’re dead!" outside her home, banging windows, and making threats towards her.
He admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, including shouting, swearing, striking a window, and threatening to damage property.
Smith was also known to have assault and drug convictions, as well as previous breaches of court orders.
Despite being released from prison recently, he faced further legal proceedings related to theft from an ex-serviceman's club.
The court decided to impose a community sentence, indicating that imprisonment was deemed not to be appropriate given his history and circumstances.
