ANTHONY PILLING SENTENCED TO 24 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN WARRINGTON AND WEST YORKSHIRE
A convicted sex offender has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 24 years after admitting to multiple serious sexual crimes committed against women in the West Yorkshire area.Anthony Pilling, aged 43 and originally from Lymm in Warrington, was brought before Leeds Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to four counts of rape.
The court proceedings took place on Monday, October 21st, and marked a significant step in the pursuit of justice for his victims.
According to court records, Pilling admitted to three separate rape offences that occurred in Kirklees during July 2024.
These assaults were carried out against a woman in her own home, highlighting the disturbing nature of his crimes and the breach of personal safety and trust.
In addition to these recent offences, Pilling also pleaded guilty to an earlier rape incident that took place in Calderdale in 2021.
This indicates a pattern of predatory behavior spanning several years and multiple locations within West Yorkshire.
The court heard that Pilling had attacked both women in their private residences, which added a layer of violation and trauma for the victims.
The fact that these assaults occurred in the safety of their own homes underscores the severity of the offences and the sense of betrayal experienced by the victims.
PC Alexandra Oldham, a representative of the Kirklees District Adult Safeguarding Unit, expressed her thoughts on the conviction, stating, “We welcome the conviction of Pilling for shocking offences against two women in the very places where they should have expected to have felt safe.
This substantial 24-year sentence reflects both the seriousness of the offences he committed and the devastating and long-lasting impact those offences had on his victims.
I hope they can take some comfort from the sentence imposed on Pilling and knowing this dangerous, predatory man will be off our streets for many years to come.”
