COALVILLE PAEDOPHILE ANTHONY PARISH SENTENCED FOR ABUSE OF FOREIGN BOY IN UK
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Coalville and beyond, Anthony Edward Parish, aged 63, was sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of a young boy. The heinous crimes date back to the late 1970s and early 1980s, involving a foreign boy who Parish had taken under his wing.According to court proceedings, Parish first befriended the boy's parents while holidaying on an island in the Indian Ocean more than two decades ago. During this holiday, the family, which had nine children, trusted Parish enough to allow him to take their 11-year-old son back to the UK, where he was granted the role of guardian. Parish, who was a coach driver residing on London Road in Coalville, took on the responsibility of funding the boy’s education, paying for his boarding school and supporting him financially through his teenage years.
However, beneath this facade of generosity, Parish was committing grave abuses. The court heard that during school holidays, Parish subjected the young boy to sexual assaults. These assaults continued until the boy reached the age of 14, at which point he refused to leave his school during holiday periods, signaling a turning point in his resistance against Parish’s manipulations.
Despite the abuse, Parish continued to finance the boy’s education until he completed his A-levels. Once the boy had achieved this academic milestone, he distanced himself from Parish entirely, establishing a successful career as a businessman. The court was told that the victim’s life was profoundly affected by the abuse, yet he managed to rebuild his life after the traumatic experiences.
Anthony Parish, who admitted to nine counts of indecently assaulting the boy between 1978 and 1980, also confessed to possessing an indecent photograph of the victim. Additionally, he faced ten other charges related to possessing indecent images of other boys, which he had collected from magazines and books since 1988. These revelations painted a disturbing picture of Parish’s ongoing predatory behavior.
Judge John Burgess, presiding over the case, imposed strict penalties on Parish. He ordered that Parish be banned from working with children in any capacity and mandated that his details be entered into the sex offenders register for life. The sentencing underscores the severity of Parish’s crimes and the lasting impact on his victims, as the community grapples with the revelations of abuse committed by someone they once trusted.
