ANTHONY JOHNS FROM EVESHAM ATTACKS EX-PARTNER AND DAMAGES PROPERTY IN COURT HEARING
Anthony Johns, a man from Evesham, found himself in serious legal trouble after a violent incident at his former partner’s residence. The events unfolded last November and culminated in a court appearance where Johns faced multiple charges related to assault and criminal damage. On Monday, Johns appeared at Worcester Crown Court via videolink from prison, visibly emotional and breaking down in tears as the victim recounted her harrowing experience. She described feeling 'terrified' of him during the ordeal, emphasizing the severity of her fear and distress.
Johns, aged 35 and residing on Pershore Road, Great Comberton, pleaded guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage. The assault involved him breaking his ex-partner’s arm and smashing her television, actions that took place within her home. The incident was characterized by violence and recklessness, leaving the victim traumatized.
In addition to these charges, Johns admitted to breaching a sexual harm prevention order. The breach occurred when he was found at an address unsupervised with a child, which was a violation of the restrictions imposed on him. Despite being bailed out by magistrates with strict instructions to stay away from his ex-partner and to reside at his own address, Johns disregarded these conditions.
He entered her home without permission while she was absent and encountered her 15-year-old daughter on the staircase, further breaching the court’s orders. Moreover, Johns was in violation of the notification requirements for registered sex offenders, as he had been living at an address different from his registered one for over seven days, specifically from July 12 to November 30 of the previous year.
Prosecutor Paul Whitfield detailed the circumstances of the attack, noting that Johns arrived at the victim’s residence 'plainly drunk,' slurring his words and behaving in an unpleasant manner on November 29 last year. The incident not only caused physical harm but also inflicted significant emotional trauma on the victim, highlighting the ongoing issues related to Johns’ conduct and violations of court orders.
