ANTHONY HILL SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS IN PRISON IN LIVERPOOL FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
In March 2016, Anthony Hill, a 51-year-old grandfather from Church Street, Golborne, was sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of child sexual abuse.
Hill was convicted of nine offences, which included two rapes and seven sexual assaults against a schoolgirl aged between 13 and 15.
Judge Alan Conrad, QC, described the crimes as 'a vile betrayal of trust' and told Hill, 'You robbed that child of her innocence, her self-confidence, and made it difficult for her to form and maintain relationships.
She now requires counselling.' Prosecutor Frank Dillon told Liverpool Crown Court that Hill began abusing the girl when she was 13, and his abuse continued over two and a half years.
Sometimes, he took her to a hotel.
The incidents only came to light last summer, leading to Hill’s arrest on August 30.
During police interviews, he admitted to engaging in sexual activity with her but claimed she had been 'making the running.' He also acknowledged taking photographs of her nude or in her underwear.
The judge also ordered Hill, who has prior convictions for firearm offences, assault, and handling, to be added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Additionally, he imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Hill's defense attorney, Paul Becker, expressed remorse, stating, 'He accepts he has performed dreadful crimes on her.'
