ANTHONY GRAHAM FROM NEWCASTLE CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES AT PETS AT HOME IN KINGSTON PARK
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community in Newcastle, authorities have uncovered a serious criminal offense involving a local pet shop worker named Anthony Graham.The incident came to light in July 2023 when Graham was found to have shared and possessed extremely disturbing images of child sexual abuse on social media platform Snapchat.
Anthony Graham, aged 22 and residing at Cowdray Court in Kingston Park, Newcastle, was employed at the Pets at Home store located in Kingston Park at the time of his arrest.
The investigation was initiated after Northumbria Police received a referral from the National Crime Agency, which flagged the uploading of illicit material linked to Graham’s Snapchat account.
Following the referral, police officers swiftly responded to the scene and apprehended Graham at his place of employment.
During a search of his mobile device, authorities discovered a significant collection of indecent images and videos categorized under different levels of severity, known as categories A, B, and C.
The evidence included 18 images and 40 videos classified as Category A, which denotes the most severe form of child exploitation material.
Additionally, there were 12 Category B images and nine videos, along with four images classified as Category C.
Graham appeared before Newcastle Crown Court in a hearing held on a Friday, where he faced charges related to the distribution and possession of indecent images of children.
He pleaded guilty to all charges, which involved offenses committed during the year 2020.
The court was informed that on September 23, 2020, the police had received a referral from the National Crime Agency concerning the uploading of two Category A images depicting the sexual abuse of a six-month-old infant.
These images were linked to a Snapchat account associated with Graham, identified through an IP address and username.
Prosecutor Rachael Glover detailed the case, stating, “On December 22 of the same year, police visited the Pets at Home store in Kingston Park, Newcastle, where Graham was employed.
He provided his mobile phone to authorities, which was subsequently examined.
The investigation uncovered multiple Category A, B, and C images and videos.” Ms.
Glover further explained that Graham had uploaded two Category A images to Snapchat, which explicitly depicted the sexual abuse of a very young child.
Despite the severity of the crimes, Graham had no prior convictions and maintained a stance of silence during police interviews, choosing not to comment when questioned.
In sentencing, Recorder Benjamin Nolan KC described the gravity of Graham’s offenses.
He sentenced Graham to two years in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offense within that period.
The court also mandated that Graham complete 30 days of rehabilitation and participate in a 27-day Horizon programme aimed at addressing his offending behavior.
Furthermore, Graham was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk to the community.
