ANTHONY FOWLER JAILED FOR RAPE IN HULL: A DISTURBING CASE FROM EAST HULL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Anthony Fowler, a 32-year-old man originally from Hull, has been sentenced to an indefinite prison term after being convicted of raping a woman in her own home. The incident took place on August 18, when Fowler met the victim at a friend’s residence located in the eastern part of Hull.
According to court proceedings, Fowler offered to accompany the woman home around 8 pm.
She accepted his offer, and they proceeded to her house, where she kindly invited him inside for a drink.
However, the situation took a sinister turn when Fowler, instead of leaving after the visit, asked her for sex.
When she refused his advances, he responded with aggressive shouting and verbal abuse.
Despite her refusal, Fowler's behavior escalated as he forcibly grabbed her arm and dragged her into the bedroom.
There, he committed the heinous act of raping her three times.
The court heard that the victim cannot be publicly identified due to legal restrictions, but her ordeal has left a lasting impact.
It was also revealed during the trial that Fowler had a troubling criminal history.
In 2000, he was convicted of raping two girls aged 10 and 11.
These previous convictions cast a long shadow over his current case and raised concerns about his ongoing risk to the public.
Fowler pleaded guilty to the charges of rape and failure to notify the police of his change of address, which is a legal requirement for registered sex offenders.
At the time of the incident, he had been residing in Blackpool but had returned to Hull in July, moving into a property on Otley Close in the east of the city.
Judge John Dowse delivered the sentence at Hull Crown Court, condemning Fowler’s actions and emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
He sentenced Fowler to an indefinite period of imprisonment, with a minimum term of two years and seven months before he could be considered for parole or release.
The case has once again highlighted the importance of vigilant monitoring of convicted sex offenders and the ongoing threat they can pose to society.
