ANTHONY EVANS SENTENCED IN NOTTINGHAM FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS
A man named Anthony Evans has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of committing a series of heinous sexual offences against two young girls. The Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that Evans, a resident of the Worksop area, engaged in multiple assaults on his primary school-age victims over a period spanning several years.
These disturbing acts took place in and around the Worksop region before authorities apprehended him in February of the previous year.
According to police reports, Evans repeatedly assaulted the young girls, who were at the time of the abuse of primary school age.
He used manipulative tactics, including instructing the victims to keep his crimes secret, in an attempt to conceal his actions.
The investigation was triggered when one of the girls confided in her mother about the abuse, leading to Evans' arrest and subsequent legal proceedings.
On January 19th at Nottingham Crown Court, Evans, aged 63, was handed a sentence of 12 years in prison.
During the trial, he initially denied all allegations but later changed his plea to guilty, admitting to nine counts of sexual assault by penetration that occurred between January 2019 and February 2023.
In addition to these charges, Evans also confessed to causing his victims to watch explicit images, inciting or encouraging sexual activity, and physically assaulting one of the girls through inappropriate touching.
The court heard a detailed account of what has been described as a 'catalogue of abuse' inflicted upon the young victims.
Furthermore, the court imposed additional restrictions on Evans' future.
His sentence will be extended by an extra two years on licence upon his release from prison.
He has also been placed on the sex offenders' register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
To prevent any further harm, Evans is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which limits his access to children and restricts his movements in the community.
Detective Constable Emily Bucklow of Nottinghamshire Police expressed her commendation for the bravery shown by the victims.
She emphasized the severity of Evans' actions, describing him as a predatory sex offender responsible for a reprehensible series of abuses against two innocent children.
Bucklow stated, 'As this very strong sentence demonstrates, he couldn't have been more wrong.' The case highlights the importance of vigilance and the courage of victims in bringing such offenders to justice.
