HASLINGDEN MAN JAILED FOR PULLING EX-PARTNER FROM BED BY HER HAIR IN JEALOUS RAGE
A man identified as Anthony Crossley, aged 32, admitted to assaulting his former partner by pulling her from a bed using her hair during an incident last year.
The court heard that on September 22, the victim, who was no longer in a relationship with Crossley but was still seeing each other, was asleep in bed when he was already there.
Prosecutor Megan Cox stated that the victim was looking through her phone when Crossley noticed and became triggered.
She hid the phone, but Crossley responded by pulling her off the bed by her hair, which caused her to fall to the floor and bump her head on a chair.
He then shouted that she had 20 seconds to hand over the phone.
The victim managed to escape to the landing, where Crossley grabbed her arms and pushed her head into a laundry basket, breaking it.
He accused her of having other men around.
The police responded after a neighbor heard the commotion.
Crossley, who has six previous convictions for ten offences, was cautioned and arrested at the scene.
The court heard a victim personal statement that indicated the incident left her feeling paranoid and worried he would turn up unannounced.
During sentencing, the judge noted that the attack was motivated by jealousy and anger, and although injuries were not severe, Crossley's actions were serious.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison and an additional 12 months of post-sentence supervision, along with a five-year restraining order.
