BLACKBURN MAN JAILED FOR ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL COMMUNICATION
A man from Blackburn, Ansar Nadeem, aged 56, thought he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl online when he sent her sexual images and videos.He believed he was chatting with a minor, although he was actually talking to an undercover police officer posing as a girl named Poppy.
The conversations took place on Chatiw and Kik Messenger.
On Chatiw, the profile indicated the girl was 18 but stated she was from Aberdeen, Scotland, and claimed to be 13.
Initially, their chat was about friendship, but it quickly turned sexual, with Nadeem sending videos of sexual acts and two pictures of himself clothed.
He also expressed a desire to have 'Poppy' in his lap.
Nadeem was arrested at his home on Aberdeen Drive in Blackburn on October 17, 2022.
During the arrest, he admitted to officers that he knew his actions were wrong.
Police seized a Samsung mobile phone, which contained 33 indecent images of children, classified as 10 Category A, 8 Category B, and 13 Category C images, including 10 moving images.
Nadeem also distributed some of these images to others.
He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, causing a child to view sexual images, making indecent images, and distributing them.
He was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, with lifetime notification requirements and a sexual harm prevention order.
