ANISHBAI PATEL FROM PRESTON: SEX OFFENDER ON THE RUN IN THE UK AND INDIA
In August 2014, authorities issued a public appeal for information regarding Anishbai Patel, a convicted sex offender with a history rooted in Preston.Patel, aged 32 at the time, had previously been convicted in Preston in 2006 for a serious sexual offense involving a minor.
His conviction resulted in an eight-month suspended prison sentence, which was handed down after he was found guilty of causing or inciting a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual acts.
In addition to his suspended sentence, Patel was subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that was set to remain in effect indefinitely.
This legal measure was designed to restrict his activities and prevent further offending, reflecting the severity of his previous crimes and the concern for public safety.
Following his conviction, police investigations suggested that Patel had traveled to India.
However, recent intelligence indicates that he has since returned to the United Kingdom.
Despite his return, Patel has not taken the necessary steps to register an address with local authorities nor has he notified the police of his presence in the country, which is a legal requirement for registered offenders.
Law enforcement officials are urging the public and anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Jo Dent, who is part of Lancashire Constabulary’s Dangerous and Sexual Offenders’ Unit, emphasized the potential risk posed by Patel.
She stated, “Based on Patel’s previous offending, we believe he has a high risk of committing further sexual offences.
I would urge anyone with information on where he might be to contact us.
I would also urge Patel himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in to the police.” Authorities remain vigilant and are actively seeking to locate Patel to ensure he is held accountable and to prevent any future harm.
