ANDREW WALKER FROM NEWCASTLE CAUGHT SENDING GROTESQUE MESSAGES TO FAKE 13-YEAR-OLD IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In April 2019, a disturbing case unfolded involving Andrew Walker, a 25-year-old man from Newcastle, who was caught engaging in inappropriate online communications with a fake profile of a 13-year-old girl. The incident was part of a police operation aimed at apprehending sex offenders who attempt to exploit minors through the internet.
Police had set up a sting by posing as a Welsh teenager named ‘Lucy’ in an internet chatroom, hoping to lure potential offenders.
Walker, believing he was communicating with a young girl, initiated contact using a false name.
The authorities tracked him down after he engaged in a series of messages that quickly escalated in explicitness.
According to the court proceedings at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Walker’s residence was identified as Larkspur Grove, Newcastle.
Law enforcement officers arrested him following the online exchanges.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Walker had attempted to establish sexual communication with the fictitious minor between October 31 and November 14, 2017.
Prosecutor Marc Davies detailed the nature of the messages, stating, “It was clear that her age was 13.
He said, ‘Hey sexy’ and put kisses.
Over the course of the period, the messages became increasingly explicit and blunt and were accompanied by photographs and moving images.” Davies further explained that Walker’s communications included references to the girl being at school and expressed a desire to perform sexual acts on her.
The court noted that since the girl was a fake profile, Walker was charged with attempted sexual communication with a child, emphasizing the danger and potential harm of such behavior.
During the sentencing, Walker was visibly emotional, weeping in the dock as he received his punishment.
The court imposed a two-year community order, which requires him to complete 15 days of rehabilitation activities and a specialized course aimed at addressing his conduct.
Additionally, Walker was placed under a five-year sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders’ register for the same duration.
Judge David Fletcher emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “This was behaviour which, had it been someone at the other end who was a real 13-year-old, could have been very, very damaging for that person indeed.
You believed that it was a 13-year-old you were speaking to in a blunt, sexual, fairly grotesque kind of way.”
