A fifteen-year-old girl from Worcester, who was attending school, was impregnated by her 36-year-old partner, Andrew Taylor.
Taylor, who worked as a cable repairer and earned an annual salary of £35,000, offered to cover the costs of an abortion.
The girl, whose identity is protected by law, later made an attempt to take her own life.
During the court proceedings at Worcester Crown Court, Taylor admitted to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and one of child abduction, and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Prosecutors also left open a charge related to assisting or encouraging the teenager's suicide, citing reports of a possible death pact discussed between them.
Despite warnings issued by her parents and law enforcement, Taylor persisted in maintaining their relationship.
He took her to a bedroom at his home situated on Fleet Road, St Peter's, Worcester, when she was allowed access to see him, even with her brother present.
After the girl’s abortion was carried out at a clinic, Taylor collected her from school and they engaged in sexual activity in his car.
He was subsequently arrested on September 22 of the previous year following his visit to her again.
