HULL MAN JAILED FOR GROOMING UNDERAGE GIRL ONLINE
A man named Andrew Sunman, aged 30, has been convicted and sentenced for grooming a 13-year-old girl over the internet. The court heard that Sunman manipulated the teenager into posing nude online over a period of three years by topping up her mobile phone credit, amidst pretending to be 19 when he was actually 26.
He paid her sums of money—£5 for topless webcam poses, £10 for full nudity, and £20 when she touched herself.
The victim, who was in school uniform at the time, fell into depression and found it difficult to recover from the trauma.
Sunman also engaged in phone calls where he talked dirty to her while pleasuring himself, and he paid her for explicit images and videos.
He communicated with her through MSN chat under the alias 'Dominant Eyes 69', initially lying about his age but later revealing his true age and requesting pictures of her in school uniform.
The court was told that he had been persistent in his grooming, which involved sending her inappropriate images and making sexual advances.
After police investigation prompted by her boyfriend discovering the abuse, Sunman was arrested in February 2009 and later admitted to possessing 27 indecent images of children and other adult pornographic content.
The court sentenced him to 20 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to nine counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years, subject to a sexual offences prevention order for a decade banning contact with minors, and disqualified from working with children.
The victim’s father expressed relief that Sunman is now behind bars, noting the ongoing impact on his daughter who is still coping with the experience.
