ANDREW STRATFORD AND SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN HUDDERSFIELD AND NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
A man named Andrew Stratford has been convicted and sentenced to prison for serious child sex offences that took place in Northamptonshire in 2019.The 36-year-old, who is also known by the alias Andrew Summers, currently resides on Woodhead Road in Huddersfield.
His criminal conduct began with him establishing a deceptive friendship with a teenage girl through an online gaming platform.
Initially, their interactions revolved around the game they both played, but as their digital relationship progressed, Stratford started to send the girl inappropriate and explicit messages.
He also made requests for photos and videos, exploiting her trust and curiosity.
Over time, his manipulative tactics escalated to the point where he physically abused her, leading to serious charges.
Stratford faced multiple counts in relation to his misconduct, including three charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child and three counts of possessing indecent images.
His actions did not remain confined to online spaces, as they culminated in criminal acts of abuse that warranted a significant custodial sentence.
On Tuesday, October 11, at Northampton Crown Court, Stratford was handed down a sentence of seven years and eight months in prison for his offenses.
The sentencing highlighted the severity of his crimes and the breach of trust involved in exploiting a vulnerable minor.
Detective Sergeant Colin Bowers, leading the investigation, emphasized the tactics Stratford used to gain the girl’s trust.
“Stratford used this girl’s interest in the game to get close to her,” Bowers stated.
He further commended the bravery demonstrated by the young victim throughout the course of the investigation, acknowledging her strength in facing such troubling circumstances.
