ANDREW PRICE FROM TRURO SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Truro, Cornwall, Andrew Price, a 57-year-old lecturer at Cornwall College, has been exposed as a paedophile with a horrifying collection of over 1,000 child sexual abuse images. The details of his crimes came to light after police conducted a search of his residence in Grampound Road last August, uncovering a cache of indecent images depicting children as young as three being subjected to sexual assault.

Price’s home on Fore Street was the focus of the investigation following reports that he had uploaded an indecent image of a child via the messaging platform Kik. Law enforcement officials traced the IP address associated with the upload directly back to his residence, leading to a thorough search and seizure of his electronic devices. During the search, officers discovered a disturbing array of images stored on his laptop, which was found to contain 290 images classified as Category A, indicating the most severe form of abuse, along with 317 images in Category B and 606 in Category C. Despite the large number of images, only a small fraction was accessible at the time of seizure, as the rest had been deleted, and cleaning software was present on the device to conceal evidence.

The images were downloaded over a period spanning from March 2017 to August 2019, revealing a prolonged period of offending. The material was particularly heinous, showing children as young as three being raped, a fact that deeply shocked the court. Further investigation into Price’s online activity uncovered searches related to schoolgirls, suggesting a disturbing interest in young females.

Andrew Price appeared before Truro Crown Court to face sentencing after pleading guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children. Prosecutor Ramsay Quaife outlined the case, emphasizing the severity of the evidence and the nature of the images found. The court heard that the images depicted real children being subjected to sexual abuse, a fact that Judge Robert Linford highlighted during sentencing. The judge expressed his outrage at the depravity of the material, stating, “These images are not created by some computer. These are real children being savagely abused. How someone can get kicks from seeing a three-year-old girl raped is beyond the comprehension of any right-thinking member of the community.”

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Linford made it clear that the court’s approach to such offenders is one of strict caution, offering only one chance for rehabilitation, provided the individual has no prior convictions and is willing to engage in treatment. Price was sentenced to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period. Additionally, he is required to complete a sex offenders’ rehabilitation programme and undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activities. A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed on him for five years, restricting his activities and contact to prevent further harm.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Andrew Price has been employed at Cornwall College since 2016, raising questions about the safeguarding measures in place at the institution. The case has sparked widespread concern about the safety of children and the responsibilities of educational institutions in protecting vulnerable students from individuals like Price.
