NOTTINGHAM: EX-PAPER LACE ROADIE JAILED FOR SEX ABUSE
A man named Andrew Polkey, aged 57, who was associated with the band Paper Lace as a roadie, was involved in abusive acts and has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term.
Police investigations revealed that he and John Chambers, a former guitarist for the band, exploited a vulnerable boy over 30 years ago.
Both men were arrested in 2020 and initially denied the allegations but subsequently pleaded guilty to multiple counts of abuse.
Polkey was sentenced to 13 years for 17 counts of indecent assault.
Nottinghamshire Police described Polkey as an abuser who exploited a primary school-age victim for sexual gratification, often giving him drugs and alcohol, further betraying his trust.
The investigation uncovered additional victims who had been abused by Polkey, and the case highlighted a pattern of manipulative grooming and exploitation, with both offenders experiencing justice at Nottingham Crown Court.
